The reason for the Trust Fund is that, we are seeking in raising money for a grade 2 one-room school in war torn Bosnia. In 1999 Steve was on tour in Bosnia with the King’s own tank regiment. During his spare time along with other members of the Canadian army he help to restore the building. The monies are to be used to supply the school with desks and equipment that they need to bring education to the town of Lajsa, which is approximately 20km east of Velika Kladusa. Any excess funds will go towards minefield clearance, this is a cause that should concern everyone.

The school was dedicated to the memory of these two fine individuals on Saturday 21 march 2002

The money raised will be sent to Major Mann who is Deputy Commanding Officer 1 CER

The funds will be used on the following projects related to children and schools - i.e..e. books, furniture, toys, musical instruments (though there may be some priority allocated - children may need the books and stationery more than instruments)

Then we hope to have the fund direct it efforts to the following areas co-ordinated as part of the Battle Group humanitarian assistance plan.

  • Projects related to health care - clinics, drugs, food aid
  • Projects related to infrastructure - water, electricity etc
  • Community Assistance Projects - cultural sites, sports teams and facilities etc

As long as #One Combat engineers are serving all around the world we know that they will need help with their humanitarian aid projects.

The Steve and Leah Oliver Trust Fund has completed its mission and is no longer accepting donations.
